I’ve been trying to think of a way to help me stay on track with my running. Not only for now but also as a reference in the future. The only thing I could think of to do is the old school chain thing.

I am doing Couch to 5K which has actually turned into Ease into 5K (iPhone app). I personally think this new way is more difficult (for now) but looking forward, I think it is a better plan.

I wrote the week on each ring and the total number of minutes that I will actually be running that day. I did that so after I finish, I can look back and see that I ran however many minutes in a week or month rather than what it took me to do in 8 weeks. One day I will hopefully be able to say in did in 2 or 3 runs, what I did here on this whole entire chain. I’m pretty excited about it!

Its pretty crazy that you can go from running 6 minutes total (in intervals of seconds) to 30 minutes straight in 8 weeks. I’m taking it one goal at a time. This is my first big goal with all this…

Kale will start running next week because of his LASIK so we will be right on track for our first 5k to actually RUN together!

I’ve always had the dream to become a runner but never the motivation. I truly do have it set in my head this time and decided to make this to help keep me on track.

Ideally, I would LOVE to have a running partner so I wouldn’t have to use anything like this but I wanted to do something to look back to anyway. Do yall have anything yall use to help stay on track?

Big Day

Yesterday was quite the day in our house! Hubs finally got LASIK! He’s been wanting to do it for quite some time and his day finally came! I didn’t go to any of his appointments before so I didn’t know what all to expect. When they took him back, they asked if I wanted to watch…umm YEA! I’m telling you, it was the coolest, most fascinating thing I’ve seen!! Apparently, they used a little more pressure to get the suction cup on, so he was a little sore and had quite a bit of bruising on his eyes, but I think he’s a pretty happy camper overall!!

They like you to sleep 4-6 hours after the procedure but umm..my husband is NOT a napper! The poor thing was bored silly but obeyed and kept his eyes closed the entire time. hehe. I think this is the cutest picture

I really want to show yall what his eyes look like, but he won’t let me. Let me just say…if they had an opening in a vampire movie, they’d hire him on the spot! haha

Proud Wifey Day

Hi friends! I just wanted to share something I did today! I’m sure most of you are on Pinterest…if not, what are you waiting for!?! hehe! Any who, I found a recipe for Crockpot Lasagna on there and finally tried it out today.

I was REALLY nervous about it. A) because I am SO not a cook and B) because you put the noodles in there uncooked! That just seemed crazy to me.

I’m not even sure why I chose this because I don’t typically like lasagna because it’s always to meaty (I’m not a huge fan of meat). Well…IT WAS GREAT! Even Hubs thought so! Seriously, Pinners…look it up!

I also decided to try dessert.

Yumm!! Banana Pudding…only I forgot the bananas! haha! Only me, I swear. I ended up just putting little layer on top and adding more cool whip….not sure how that one will be. At least I definitely did one good food thing for the day.

BTW, do yall use banana or vanilla pudding to make it? I saw so many recipes calling for both of them so I was pretty much doing the “inny minny miney moe” thing on the pudding aisle! hehe

One last thing for the day. I always like to check the mail so Bosley have a little bonding time and have a little walk down to the mailbox together. I knew I would be getting my Valentine dress I ordered today (Love Blue Door Boutique!!) so I was especially excited to walk down there. Anyway…I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to get our first letter from our little Compassion boy we sponsor. Well…today it came….AND SO DID ANOTHER! (SOOO much better than my dress!!) I was absolutely thrilled! I waited for Kale to get home so we could read them together.

I literally got teary eyed reading and especially when I saw his drawings! I am so excited to see him grow over the years. Just knowing how I felt when I got his letters today, I can only imagine the excitement in his heart when he gets ours! Such an amazing organization!!

Ah, well that’s it for me today. I think I’m going to go break into that pudding and see how it is. Have a great rest of the week, my friends!

Oh, How I Love Burlap

I finally got around to doing my burlap napkins! Sorry…The Vampire Diaries has had me pretty occupied for the last few days! I have NEVER been into the whole vampire thing, but I can’t stop! I’ve only got a few episodes left before I’m all caught up…so sad! It so makes me want to try out the Twilight thing but I’m forcing myself to stay away!

Anyway, here are my new napkins! LOVE them!

I love this set of dishes SO much, but for the burlap I’d like to find a chic set of white dishes.

Okay, I just thought I’d share that with yall. I’ve got to go take dinner out of the oven now. Praying it isn’t a complete disaster! I just kind of winged it with the ingredients! Luckily, Kale won’t read this until we’ve already attempted to eat! haha

I cannot tell you guys how excited I am that the Razorbacks won the Cotton Bowl tonight! Woohoo!! Overall it was a pretty good game...until the end of the 3rd quarter and I could no longer hold my eyes open due to a hot fudge sundae coma ;) Luckily I woke up with just a few minutes left in the game and was so proud of our guys!!

A Little Bit of Nesting

I’ve had a little more time on my hands lately and my house has been driving me CRAZY so I figured I’d do a little sprucing up. I have no clue what I’m doing when it comes to decorating so I always get a little nervous.

When Kale and I were dating, I bought some stuff for his apartment to give it a little character and just used all that in our apartment when we got married…and of course carried it over to the house. At the time, I just wanted something that had a little style but still completely masculine.

Now I’m wanting to change my style to vintage/shabby chic. I don’t really know if the two styles even go together, but I like them both so I thought I’d try it. Oh, boy!

I got the antique tv console (shown in previous post) with the intention of using more shabby chic décor on it…but I haven’t made it there yet.

I also recently got this piece for the hall, which I L.O.V.E. I am not thrilled with what I’ve got on it at this point but I’m working on a budget and figured I should start in the areas that people actually see!

Any who, this is what I’ve been working on the last few days…

I don’t just love what I have here, but found exactly what I need (I just had to come home and see it to confirm!) so that will help

I figured I would follow the rest of the world in the nest/bird theme since it is TOO cute.

and I love that we have vintage Razorback yearbooks!!

This next project is seriously my all time favorite. For some reason I always like what I do more in real life than in pictures. Maybe that’s a sign that it’s really not that cute?? haha

I’m the world’s worst at trying to get a theme to go through the entire house and am a little worried I’m taking the bird thing too far, but I also did this.

This is on a wall in our breakfast area.

I am not wanting to keep the table this way at all. I just got extra birds today, just in case. I’m wanting to find a cute, shabby set of candle holders and put a bird on each one then find a different spot for the remaining birds.

Well, so far that’s all I’ve done. Now, anybody out there with just a tiny dab of talent want to give me some pointers? I would really like to paint and change the living room furniture but realistically that is going to take QUITE a bit of time and saving so I’m having a little trouble mixing our two existing styles. Right now in the living room, all I have that is shabby is a bird nest (imagine that) candle holder thing. I feel like it goes because it’s distressed…I honestly have no idea though!

I did find some burlap today, which I LOVE right now and am hoping to incorporate. I am planning on making napkins and using raffia as a tie for them. We will see how that works out in a few days. I also want to do a little border of burlap with some type of decorative jewel on some candles in got for my mantle.

So…yea. Any of you who know what you’re doing…HELP me!!! haha

NYE 2011

Hi friends! Well, here we are at the end of another year and I just have to say I have never celebrated like I have this year because…I’m sick! Ugh! When we got back from Arkansas, it started to hit me and I’ve literally slept the last few days away. I will be VERY surprised if I make it to midnight tonight.

What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before? For the first time in my life, I started to stick up for myself. I am the person to avoid conflict at all cost and try to please everyone else, whether it hurts me or not. I finally realized that’s not the way to live. That doesn’t mean I try to find something to argue about or anything, I just don’t let anyone take advantage of me anymore. It really is SO liberating to be in control of my life for the first time ever!!

Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No, I didn’t keep my resolutions from last year. I decided to blog everyday for a year…and, well you see how that turned out. This year my goal is to organize and deep clean my house, work on getting my old body back and to blog at least once a week. I feel like these are reasonable things I can accomplish in 2012.

Did anyone close to you give birth? My cousins both gave birth to their first children this year. I could not be more excited for them. Maybe 2012 will be my year!?! (well, probably not to GIVE birth!)

Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully, no.

Did you go on any vacations? We went home to Arkansas a couple times but that was the extent of vacation for us. I am hoping to make 2012 my year for that as well.

What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011? Umm…a pregnant belly!

What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory and why? December 12th was mine and Kale’s first EVER dual baby naming talk!!! I have talked and talked countless times, but this was the first time he had ever been involved in the conversation other than a “no” and “no way”! haha

What was your biggest achievement of the year? I was very proud of how much improvement I made on pushups. I did a 6 week pushup challenge and made it up to 30 consecutive pushups from 6!

What was your biggest disappointment of the year? Kale and I were REALLLY hoping to get to move back to Arkansas. We were pretty sure it was going to happen for a few months and found out later that God’s plan was for us to stay in Texas. SOOOO hard for me!

Did you suffer illness or injury? I did not have a single illness until a few days ago. I guess I should be grateful for the timing, though! I did suffer an injury from my pushup challenge which required physical therapy. According to my therapist, my muscles we so weak that I should have never even attempted it..oopsies!

What was the best thing you bought? I absolutely LOVE my new tv console I bought!

Where did most of your money go? Probably to decorative house stuff. I LOOOOOVVVVEEE finding new things that will work in the house!

What was the best book you read? Probably Redeeming Love. I also loved One Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 24 and when I got home from work, Kale and I went on a picnic by the pond in our neighborhood. I LOVED that!!!

Yep, 2011 was a pretty good one! Excited to see how 2012 goes for us!

I have REALLY been enjoying my new hobby of bird watching. Haha, I know how ridiculous that sounds coming from a 23 year old. Maybe that’s why I don’t have many friends my age?!?

And enjoy it even more when the woodpecker comes to visit. He’s so cool!! :)….and BIG!

For the first few days, all Bosley wanted to do was hang out in the sun.

After a few days, he got used to having them around and was pretty entertained by them.

but now….he’s letting them (and the squirrels) know that this is HIS yard! hahahaha!! He has NEVER just hung out in the grass like that!

Okay, away from the dog and birds, now. Kale and I have been going to a wonderful church for quite some time now. Everything about the church is amazing…but it is SO hard to get connected!! I used to be fine with just being a regular attender and having my own quiet time with God. Not anymore, though. I want to enjoy some great fellowship, make new, lasting relationships with fellow Brothers and Sisters of Christ, learn more of His word and serve like I never thought possible. I want this. I need this…and have been praying about it for so long.

Anyway, we tried a new church out today because I knew they were a little smaller and had SS classes. I thought, if we liked it, it would be easier to get involved. Well, as soon as we walked in, we looked at each other and KNEW this wasn’t it. I prayed and prayed for God to let me look past my judgments and really just hear from Him during the sermon. I was literally almost in tears the entire time because this is something I have wanted/needed for SO long and I just thought He was calling me to make this move. I know our journey is just beginning and only He knows where we will end up, so I’m leaving it all in His hands and moving forward. Please, please, please keep us in your prayers that He leads us to a place where we can serve and just FIT!

I am NOT an egg person at all, but last week I started having egg whites for breakfast again. Only this time around, I’m actually enjoying them! Just a little salsa and pepper and I’ve got a pretty good breakfast!

Kale and I have been using the grill a little more lately. Umm….yumm!!!

Bosley also decided last week, that he will not tolerate a day of me having a banana without sharing.

A special someone had a birthday last week. I got him the grill as his early birthday present, so we just had dinner at (drum roll, please…) Chuy’s! This was the dog of the day that I texted to the birthday boy.

Kale and I picked up a bird feeder the other night and I was sooo excited he actually said I could get it!

Last night we both got SOO excited when the truck pulled up with the piano in it!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE listening to Kale play!! We actually got some comments from some of the neighbors today that they could hear him playing last night! Guess we better get some curtains and a rug in there soon!

Sorry I’ve been MIA lately. I’ve been spending as much time as possible enjoying the weather outside lately because I know, before too long, it will be too hot to enjoy much outside.

We got our first tree frog of the season this year.

Yea, I like crazy things…I know! haha

For some reason, out of nowhere, I got this crazy craving for a strawberry limeade. I think I’ve only had like 1 or 2 in my life and I had 3 last week!! My new FAV for sure!!

I’m sporting a new hairstyle now. MUCH shorter than I was expecting, but all the dead is cut off and it just looks healthy! It’s not Kale’s favorite, so I’ll grow it out just a bit.

We had Kale’s boss over for dinner yesterday since he will be moving back to Arkansas in just a few days. They were so stinking cute on the couch playing with K’s new gadgets!

I got SO excited when I saw this little guy the other day. He was the first one we’ve seen at the house.

Friday evening, Kale and I had to go get Bosley some dog food and I was on the lookout for ummm…a dog fannie pack?? I just wanted something I could put on him that I could put my phone in when we go on walks. Umm…I felt COMPLETELY ridiculous laughing out loud in the middle of the aisle when I saw this.

Maybe I’m just a bad momma for letting him sit next to me in the front seat?!?

Yesterday I had to work and there was nothing going on so I got to finish Redeeming Love. Seriously…SUCH a good book!!!

and today Kale and I worked in the yard alllllllll day long. We are just pooped!! When I went to the garden place this morning, I absolutely fell in love with this!

I WILL have one of these on my patio one day!! Just gorgeous.

Since I can remember, I have always looked forward to having my own flower garden so I have been so excited about Spring time in our new house. I am so proud of the work we did today! My absolute favorite are my Hydrangeas! I can’t wait until they GROW GROW GROW! (As long as the deer don’t get them first!)

I had BIG plans for Kale when he got home. I wanted to get him a grill as an early birthday present. I had everything planned perfectly and had already bought everything he needed for it and even got everything for dinner. Well, when we got to Lowe’s to pick it up, I had a change of heart and got another brand….and they didn’t have any put together. So…this is what I got the first night he was back home…

Monday morning we had a few storms and Boz was NOT having it.

Jacquie sent Redeeming Love home with Kale and this is how far I got on Monday. So far…SOOO good!

Last night, Kale and I finally got to put the grill to use…ummm…YUMM!! best chicken I’ve ever had!!

and today we finally got the treadmill in and Kale had it together for me by the time I got home!!

We decided to put Bosley on there for a little exercise…umm Cesar Milan DOES NOT! DOES NOT! DOES NOT! show when they first get on it.

Is it wrong that I was cracking up the entire time!?! tee hee

This morning, I woke up early…not by choice. My dog had me pushed ALL the way to the edge of my king sized bed….turd!

Any who, I thought I’d make the most of the gorgeous weather so I headed to do a few errands. And, of course, a little shopping. When I came home, this is how I found Bosley.

Haha! He must have gotten a little bored or just wanted to look outside!

I was home for about 30 minutes then headed to the neighbors to do lunch and a little shopping. I’ve been feeling so bad because I never get to see anybody anymore

On my trip this morning, I found this at Marshalls but didn’t want to pay $20 for it so I passed it up. Well, when we went to Kohl’s they had it 50% (still $20) and decided to grab it.

I don’t think I love it. Maybe if I painted it a brown color, it would work better?? What do yall think??

The other day I woke up early to run some errands and was amazed with how foggy it was.

After my little scare last week, Kale and I promised each other that we will get healthy together. Knowing that my gaining a little weight affected that, freaked me out. If it can do that, what else is it doing to my body?!

Well…Monday we started a push up challenge on top of our running challenge

Yesterday morning, Bosley was WOUND up so I decided to wear him out outside. This is how he let me know he was done…

Thursday morning my little man had to go to the vet.

the poor thing had to have 4 shots! glad he’s a healthy boy!

Monday I had a dr. appt. and she thought she felt something that may have been a cyst so she had me schedule an appt. for an ultrasound. …so that’s how my friday started out.

I made sure to schedule at a time that Kale could come with me so he could read her face in case she wasn’t able to tell us anything that day. When they told us that he had to stay in the waiting room, I got a little worried.

Thankfully everything turned out just fine and I’m a healthy girl! Thank you, Lord!!!

Saturday, Kale and I had a “Kayla/Kale Day” which made me SOOO happy!! we FINALLY took my rings to get cleaned, sized, and put together. My poor fingers feel so bare. Hopefully they’ll be back in before the time she told us!

We headed to lunch and to do some furniture shopping. Along the way, I decided I HAVE to have one of these in our entryway!!

Days like yesterday are EXACTLY what I need to keep my sanity! I love Kale with my entire heart and always will…these days just make me realize it even more (if that’s possible)

This morning we had church then ran a couple errands and spent the majority of the day just lounging around. Tonight we went to see Darlene Zschech and Hillsong at church. They were SOO good!! So glad I got to experience that with my love!

Yep, I’ve got a A LOT of things to be grateful for!! God really has blessed us so much…sometimes it just kind of takes my breath away…

#298- My Little Cuddler

Last night, lucky little Bosley got to sleep with mommy!! I woke up at about 4:30 am and realized he was RIGHT in my face and I was breathing in his air…which Kale and I used to joke about doing to each other pretty often! (before the big bed) haha. I tried to snap a couple pictures because it was the cutest thing in the world…but he wasn’t having it!!

I went back to sleep and woke up a couple hours later because something kept hitting my face….(I really apologize for this picture, but I had to document this!)

My chin was resting on his head and his face was literally under the pillow! I guess I was breathing into his ear…which tickled him and he kept moving it…which woke me up!!! hahaha!!

I just LOVE my little puppy!

Sorry for those who always get to sleep with their little cuddle bugs and are completely used to this!! It’s a RARE occasion in our house, so these little moments like this just melt my heart.

Tuesday, we had two sets of neighbors move in so Wednesday I made some no bake cookies to welcome them to the neighborhood. I felt like they needed to feel as welcome as Kale and I did when we got here.

I left just a few for Kale so I thought he would want some more…hence the note above.

Thursday I just wanted to document the progress the builders are making behind us…

I noticed today that they’re already working on a third house back there! …and we’ve got 3 going up at the end of the street. Needless to say, there’s ALWAYS plenty of people around! haha

Today, as I was sitting at work I looked outside and back at the clock and got so giddy. It was like 6:10 and there was still quite a bit of light

and…it was like 80 degrees today. Umm…yea it was very difficult to go back to work after my lunch break!!

By the time I got home Friday evening, it was about time for Mads to head to bed.

Saturday, Kale had a little alone time while the rest of us headed to the mall. Mads got a “princess” haircut.

…and saw some puppies.

…and made quite a few new friends.

After the mall, we rushed home to wash the “princess” out and headed to church. Maddie did SUCH a great job in the nursery. She just walked right in and never looked back! haha After church, we headed to dinner and while we were waiting, Mads thought it was necessary to pick Kale’s nose!

Sunday, the boys watched Maddie Moo while the big girls headed to the outlets!

I found this beauty, but turned it down so I could get my treadmill. (crazy girl, I know…)

On the way back, we stopped by TJM and this was the first thing we see….

SOOOO sweet! Seeing this stuff just kills me sometimes! haha

Maddie got into my accessories that day. She’s sooo cute!!

Monday morning, Kale made pancakes for breakfast. Maddie helped in her cute, little jammies

That night, the boys hung out in the living room while the big girls piled in the big bed to watch The Bachelor. Oh, my…I could get used to that!! Loved it!!!

And yesterday, on my way out the door, I found this in my purse as I reached for my perfume…

Awww, why can’t we be closer!!?!?!?!??!!? I love this family (+ Dave) with my whole heart!!

Thursday, we had to give each other a “heart attack” and, once again, I was very impressed with Mr. Wallace! (left door)

Yesterday we had an unexpected day together. Houston got an “ice storm” and just about EVERYTHING was on lock down! Kale FINALLY warmed up to the idea of Bosley hanging out with us on the bed. (our new hangout!)

He even gets to sleep with us now!!! Love my pup!

And today, we were supposed to send each other a romantic text or email. Yall just don’t understand…I COULD GET USED TO THIS!! hahahahaha

Yesterday Kale and I started our Valentine countdown! I didn’t really think Kale would go for the idea, but so far he’s done AMAZINGLY well!! Makes me fall in love with him even more! Anyway, this is what I saw when I walked in yesterday.

We were supposed to make or buy a cheesy V-day card for less than $1. Umm….this CRACKED me up!!! (that’s for you, babe!)

Today, we had to write a love letter to each other and his just melted my heart!

Saturday, I had a SERIOUS craving for some chocolate and these things did the trick!

Yesterday after church, we had a VERY lazy day. Not going to lie, I. LOVED. IT. Sunday’s are usually my house cleaning days but not yesterday! (I DO regret it today, though!)

This is what all 3 of us looked like yesterday. I actually took 3 naps. I don’t know what my deal was but I was just exhausted!

Rosalba had a Bible study at her house and I told her a few weeks back that I would help her cook and get ready..oopsies, I completely forgot! She texted me just as I was waking up from a nap and I went over to help a little bit.

I’m not sure why I’m just now deciding to do 2 posts in 1, but I’m lovin it! This blog a day for a year thing was more of a commitment than I was expecting! I DO still take a picture everyday, though!

Anyway, Kale and I have been having trouble keeping Bozley off the new bed lately…Yesterday, I found a solution…

On nice, sunny days, anyway!

And just a little bit ago when we finished Idol, we were looking for Bosley.

I wasn’t paying attention, but he must have snuck in when I was washing my face. It’s so funny how animals connect certain things. Every morning before I leave for work, I go in the bathroom, brush my teeth and spray some perfume. Guess he got a little confused tonight!?! Hehe

A couple weeks ago, I went shopping and found these for our powder. I thought they would have been perfect in there. Unfortunately, I don’t think about sizes of things when I buy them so they didn’t fit in there. I’ve been asking Kale since that day to hang them somewhere. Well about 20 minutes after I walked inside last night, I noticed he hung them for me!

Last night, Kale and I had a date night to Brio…which I have been craving for a couple months now!! Unfortunately, we were unaware of the fact that they allow reservations, so after a 2 hour wait, we got to enjoy this.

He is the cutest thing ever. He said since I’ve wanted it so bad for so long, he wanted to make it a special night so he got dressed up for me AND put cologne on…which I LOVE but he hates. It’s a special occasion if he’s smelling really good! hehe

When I was at work yesterday, he sent me this picture.

We have been talking about scoring and staining our patio since before we even bought the house. I didn’t really have the vision in my head until I saw this picture and I absolutely love it.

I was shocked when I got home and saw this. The poor guy did this ALL by himself! I am SO impressed by how well he did!! We already have the colors picked out, we just have to order them and I will be helping him with that next weekend!

Today, he decided to play with his power washer he just bought…3 hours later, he finally came inside! haha…but we sure do have clean stuff now

While I was making the bed, he tapped on the window to show me this.

Teehee!! He blew “I <3 U” into the wet window screen for me! Goodness, I love that man!!!

Sorry I missed my post yesterday. I pretty much came home from work, gave the hubbs a hug and ran out the door. It was bunco night so I went to Lynn’s a little early to help with anything she needed. I tried to make it out of there a little early so I could at least talk to my Kalo a little bit before he went to bed…Welp, I didn’t make it in soon enough but I sure did think of him while I was there. Lynn even made a little plate for him.

Unfortunately, I accidentally left it out over night so it was no good for him. Oopsies…

Tonight, I’m coloring my hair. It was time for a change and I could see my grays…even through the blonde. NO BUENO!! Kale also put together a little night stand I got for the girly guest bedroom. SOOOO ready for everyone to be here agian. LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!!!!!

Okie doke…time to go rinse this smelly stuff out of my hair!!!

This morning, I was laying on the bed with my precious little family watching them clear out the lot behind us.

This is what it looks like right now…

SUCH a difference! It really is hard to believe what it was like before all these houses were here. All those poor trees and animals…just makes me a little sad. I think our neighborhood is beautiful, don’t get me wrong but…wow!!

Guess it’s about time to order blinds for the bathroom!

While all the guys headed to the driving range this morning, Lynn and I did a little shopping. I was trying to be good and ended up coming home empty handed. THAT. WAS. TORTURE. Our 2 story Forever 21 just killed me!!

We met up with the guys and Rosalba for lunch at a new restaurant….I wouldn’t hate going back

After lunch, Lynn and I headed back out to do a little more shopping. We went to Michaels so I could pick up some things for my Valentine project I want to do and to Kohls to see what I could find…ended up with some cute, little Valentine decorations…but I REALLLLLLLYYYYY wanted to bring this home with me!!! It’s just so cute and girly while still being a classic. And the color just really caught my eye (not true in this picture). After doing our shopping today, I am SO ready for Spring! There’s some incredibly cute things out there I’ve got my eye on

When we got back to her house, Jodi and Miss Emma showed up which just made my day!

I have just a few minutes now before we head to church then I will be enjoying a nice, quiet evening in with my favorite men!

I am feeling overwhelmingly blessed with the people God has brought into our lives. So thankful for days like these to remind me how blessed we truly are!

Kale and I are planning a quick trip to AR in March since he has to go there for work. I am SOOO excited about it, but at the same time it’s breaking my heart. My poor baby boy won’t be able to come. This is will be my first time away from him ever….guess I’ll be doing some research on local places when I’m at work tomorrow.

On our way to dinner, we made an unplanned stop to check out mattresses and ended up buying a Simmons Edaline. Anybody have any thoughts on the brand?? We did NO research at all before buying but we felt like we couldn’t get much better of a deal, so we decided to risk it. Hope all turns out well and we just love it!

Let’s just say it was a good thing we weren’t counting on them for Christmas dessert. They were like wet in the middle (pineapple juice) and burnt around the edges. The glaze wasn’t all that great, either. Eh, I tried. I’ll just keep eating the ones everyone else makes and try something else! haha

#245- Sentimental Fun

Kale and I had SUCH a good day together! This morning, we actually slept in. A lot. We didn’t get out of bed until 9:30. That NEVER happens so it was definitely nice! Kale said he woke up at around 7 but decided to stay in bed for me

We put a mattress pad on our bed after the fam left but poor Boz is terrified of it or something. He refuses to get on the bed now!! It cracks us up, but we just don’t understand it! Maybe because he sinks in??? Silly pup!!

When we got up, we went for a little walk and came back home and just hung out. Actually, he was watching football and I eventually fell asleep.

New Year’s day is the most depressing day of the year to me. It’s the day all Christmas decorations are “supposed” to come down. Bleh! I put it off until about 1:00, but then finally decided to get busy. No fun!!

Kale and I headed to Chuy’s early tonight (around 5) so we could beat the crowd. That’s the time to go!! After dinner, we planned on going to Target so we decided to head to the one near the mall so I could go to Marshall’s too. We ended up at Best Buy, Ulta (closed), Bed Bath and Beyond (closed), Target and JCP…and we purchased some bedding!!

I LOVE it! We got everything we need other than sheets but we got a really good deal! The guy even rang us up 3 times so we could save an additional $45! So nice.

When we finally made it home, we decided to watch a Garth Brooks concert. (LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE)…and Kale pinky promised me that we would go one day! Pinky. Can’t break that one…EEK!!

While we were doing that, I got a little sentimental so I decided to go through some things we hadn’t looked at in a while. I found all our cards from the wedding and my showers. Some of them literally brought tears to my eyes! So sweet.

When I finished that, we got out my Kale box. Kale read my proposal card things out loud and I just couldn’t help but remember that moment and started tearing up! Ahhh, I love that man! After the box, I dug out the memory book I made him for our first dating anniversary and the picture book he made me for our second year. I’m SO SO SO glad I’ve kept little things early on from our relationship that we can look back on. It’s so fun going through it together and trying to remember what something was. For now we remember everything! I bet we will 50 years from now, too.

Thursday evening, Kale and I had to go to the store so we decided to draw it out a bit and go to Lowe’s and Kohls too. I headed straight to the bedding section when I got to Kohls and saw this.

It seriously made me think of Jacquie. SO her style!

We got with the neighbors a while back and decided to all wanted to get together for New Year’s and have a little dinner.

Fajitas it was! I seriously ate like half that chicken. It was THE best chicken I’ve ever had in my life, hands down. They marinated it in pineapple for 24 hours and cooked it on the grill. YUMMMM!!!

We also played some Dominos. I had never played this version (chicken foot) but it was SO much fun!

Poor Kale ended up with over 400 points. That was a lot of counting for him! Teehee!!

I had never had a NYE with friends. As a kid, I was never aloud out of the house that night, and since Kale and I have been together, it’s always just been us. (That’s what I’m remembering, anyway) It was so much fun to just eat and hang out with friends and not have to worry about being unsafe from all the drivers. Next year I really want to do the hotel thing downtown and get all dolled up and enjoy a nice dinner with party favors! That sounds so fun to me! Probably just because it would give me an excuse to get a new outfit

It’s so hard to believe 2010 is really over. Last year we were JUST getting done with this mess.

I’m just remembering how terribly exhausted we were. Kale stayed up, I think, and woke me up at about 11:45ish and I’m pretty sure I went right back to sleep after our smooch!

2010 was such a busy year for us!

He got his first outfit!

The fam came to see us for the first time!!!

The only time I got to go to Arkansas last year. (4th of July)

Kale was gone a lot with training. Sad days…

Guess it’s officially time to blog.

Sorry I avoided yall so long but I did everything in my power to stay off my phone and laptop to spend time with the fam while they were in! I was SOO excited for them to get here. I actually had a plan to stay up and watch a movie until they got here, but I couldn’t hold out. I got a good few hours of sleep before they showed at about 1:30 in the morning. Ah, hugging Jacquie was the best feeling in the world. I felt like I hadn’t seen her in like a year. Ugh!! I felt so bad because I was actually so tired when they came in that I didn’t even give poor Daisy a hug! We stayed up a while to catch up a little and hit the hay.

Kale and Tyler had an early morning T off or time or whatever, so the rest of us just hung around the house, watched a little tv and played with Mads while they were gone. We had plans to go to church but wonderful Mother Nature had different plans for us so we stayed home and played Apples to Apples (so fun!!) We also made Santa cookies and a gingerbread house!

The next morning was SO much fun to me! Seeing little Maddie on Christmas morning was amazing! Makes me remember that feeling I used to get as a child. I CAN’T WAIT for the day I have children of my own to share precious moments like these with!

I love these people with my entire heart and was so grateful to get to share the holiday with them!

It was sooo much fun getting to meet Mads and Daisy! The thought of having a niece AND a sister excites me beyond belief!! Love them! I can’t wait until they are back in Feb! Too bad I will be working 2 days while they’re here. So not fair. I still don’t think $11 an hour is worth that!!

Tonight, we had to grab a few things from the store really quick so we had planned on doing Subway which is right by the store.

Also right by the store. Shogun…and it sucked us in there so fast we didn’t know what happened to us! haha

Oh, yes…stockings, last day of work for a couple days, dinner AND the family coming in….I guess you could say I’m just a tad happy.

Since I left Bosley in his crate ALLLLLL day Thursday, he thought this would be a great way to get me back.

The little turd played in his own poo!! OMG I thought something crawled in somehow over night and died! It was horrible!!

That evening, I FINALLY got to hang out with my Rosalba! Poor thing has been incredibly busy with school so I’m so glad she has a few weeks to relax Like always, I forgot to get a picture…but I did take this. I asked Kale if it was a turd that belonged to some creature. hehe we are so gross! But he is convinced deer jump our fence to hang in the backyard.

We discovered last night that the mysterious creature in our yard that has been tormenting the pup is a rabbit! hahahaha! We have our very own Bugs Bunny

Today, the hubbs and I spent the day in the kitchen.

Last weekend, he put on some handles in there and today we got under cabinet lighting and changed out our bulbs for better lighting in the house. He pretty handy…guess I’ll keep him around So good, in fact, that he went down the street and did the neighbors! hehe

A while back, we had a little fun with the pup and took some pictures of him being the little athlete he is. I just love my little family!!!

He decided to come home early…which made me EXTREMELY happy. He also suggested we have a lunch date. Oh, he makes my heart smile. We decided to do Chinese before I had to go to work. Yummmmm.

The lady did something crazy with his drink (rootbeer). I think she forgot what he asked for and put half Coke then remembered it was rootbeer. Yuck! He gulped the entire thing down in seconds so she would bring him a fresh one! hahahahahaha!

I got SO excited to open my fortune cookie after a talk we had, I just HAD to see what was in there for me….

Nothing!! Seriously!?!??! Good thing those things never make sense to me anyway! I really liked Kale’s last one, though!

Kale has a glass of milk with nearly every meal. Typically, I’m the one to pour it. He always gets frustrated with me because I fill it too high, so when I asked him to bring me some lemonade, this is what I get.

This morning we had a fun time with Bosley. We like to think he’s some amazing athlete so we always get him wound up.

It’s so fun to see so many of his look-a-likes They’ve got some REALLY good pictures on there of dogs and I got a little excited because I always forget Kale has a really good camera. I’m going to try to take some good ones of him. I have a feeling Kale may take over on this one, though! haha

I’m going to try not to miss this many days again. Bore fests are okay, but that’s a lot for one day! haha

For our anniversary, Kale and I decided to go to another Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert since we enjoyed it so much last year. It literally brings me to tears. (Especially the violinists!!!!) They’ve got a little story line going along with it between songs. This one is a little long, but it’s my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!! Kale doesn’t care for it because it takes so long, but ah, it just gets me!

They’ve all got incredible voices and skills! Ah, I just love it! Here are some pictures of the fun…

We did learn last year that floor seats are NOT the best option for this concert. Our seats were just about perfect this year! All the people around us learned that lesson, too! haha. Great view of all of it

Anyway, if they’re ever in your area, I’d encourage you to go see them! Great family event (for kiddos who can sit through something that long and handle the lights and sound).

Tonight, Kale and I went with the neighbors to check out lights at a neighborhood they’ve been going to for years. So much fun!!!

There was a street that did all Charlie Brown with little sayings. TOO cute!

I want to go again Christmas Eve or the night of Christmas. Little Mads would just DIE over it!!!

After touring the neighborhood, we headed to a little mom and pop Italian restaurant. sooooooo good!! It reminded me a lot of the place we went on our honeymoon. Oh, memories!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year! I’ve got so many sweet memories from our day that I will never forget!

This morning, Kale made me this.

We had a dinner date at a little Italian restaurant.

Here’s what was left of our dessert!

We spent a lot of our day just lounging around. We had our light guy come yesterday to hang the lights, and he was supposed to come back this morning to finish up. No show… I was so upset because we had to miss church and I thought it would have been the PERFECT thing for our anniversary!!

We decided to go this evening to take pictures by the lights around town, but didn’t find any! Isn’t that crazy?!?! They had one little square around the ice rink but there wasn’t a good spot for pictures, so we just drove around to see the houses. While we were in the car, Kale said the SWEETEST thing to me that just melted my heart and made me teary eyed. I love this man with my whole heart and each day with him, brings me so much joy! It is SUCH a blessing to have a love like ours that will never die.

When we got back home, we sat up our porch trees and Kale plugged them in for me. We had a little struggle, but my handyman saved the day

This man has my heart forever. Looking forward to many, many more anniversaries with my love!

I hope you all had a terrific Thanksgiving with your loved ones! Kale and I woke up early to grab some pies from the store, cleaned up the house a bit, gave the dog a bath and headed over to the neighbors. I decided I wanted to help cook so I could learn for the future…two words: NOT HAPPENING!! That’s a lot of cooking and cleaning for a 15 minute meal. Not for me! haha

I cannot tell yall how nice it is to have friends/neighbors like we have! I missed Dario and Rosalba that day, though! (and, OF COURSE, our family!!)

Our other neighbors, John and Lynn, came over for dessert and we all just sat and chatted all evening. At about 9, all the girls headed out for shopping and the guys did the football thing.

Shopping was just CRAZY! It was really cold and I could NOT believe the crowds! Some of those people were just nuts!

I got a little bored this morning and did this….hehe

This morning, I woke up early for church and got all ready. When Kale finally woke up, we decided to go to the later service so we could have pancakes for breakfast. haha, only us! Well, after breakfast, I started my Sunday chores and we took what we thought would be a short walk. We stopped and talked to the neighbor and picked up a bunch of pine cones…which was more difficult than it should have been considering we are completely surrounded by pine trees! haha. anyway, we got back later than we expected and were both sweating pretty badly, so we decided we’d stay home and get some stuff done.

Side note—I am decorating for Christmas…late November…umm, 80 degrees?!?! Not complaining AT ALL, but its so strange to get to wear shorts and short sleeved shirts this time of year!!

Tonight’s bunco was a success. I cannot tell yall how nice it is to have neighbors that are so sweet and caring! We had a great time of laughter, food and great company.

Tonight, Kale and I had fajitas for dinner. I even helped him cook! (Very rare these days) Sorry, hubbs. After dinner, we started getting things ready for my Bunco night for tomorrow. I needed him to get the study in some kind of order since that’s where one of the tables will be. On the list…curtains.

Kale and I got to babysit tonight! Actually, he did most of it. He watched Little Emma for 2 whole hours without me!!! Eekk!! And let me tell ya..he didn’t hate it! I have proof!

She’s SUCH a doll!! I love love love her baby noises! Can’t wait til I get to hear OUR baby one day!

Jodi and Ryan (parents) had a fun little date night down town. I am SO glad we get to help them have those nights. So important!!

This morning after church, Kale and I headed to Garden Ridge to get a few “necessities”. You know, all the important things like extra ornaments and outside Christmas trees! We also picked up some barstools and a canvas painting to go above the mantle.

Can’t wait to put all my stuff up! While we were getting ready this morning, we were jamming out to Christmas tunes! hehe

I really like the new painting but it bothers me with the fall décor. Only a few more days, though! I feel like it may not be wide enough?? Not sure…

We’ve been after these stools for a while now but they haven’t had the right size until today. Lucky day

Sorry about missing yesterday! I was so worn out when I got home, I just couldn’t do it! After work, we had to go to the store…but decided to go somewhere new. I had been craving Subway all day so it worked out perfectly since a new one just opened right next to the store. When we turned in, we smelt an amazing smell and decided it was the little Chinese restaurant there…and of course had to try it out! Not on my diet, but SO good! When we got back, we decided to have some “family time” with Bosley since we were gone much longer than we were expecting to be.

haha I LOOOVVVEE my men!! I don’t really remember, but I think I fell asleep in the room and Kale woke me up when it was time for bed. I honestly could be making that up though! haha. I was just pooped!! but I slept SOOOOOOOOOOOO good!

This morning we lazed around until I absolutely HAD to start getting ready for the day. I had my hair appointment…

When I was done there I went shopping with Jodi and Miss Emma. I LOVE girl time and it was SO fun to have a baby around!

Gaw, she’s TOO cute! and SUCH a good baby!! (I pray Kale and I get that lucky one day!!)

After shopping, we all met up and had a little Mexican food for dinner. I got something I normally wouldn’t have ever picked, but it was delicious!! annnndddd they had free icecream for dessert! Yummmmm!

so, yep it’s been a pretty good day!

Poor Boz has been hobbling around the last couple days. He walks and runs just fine but he won’t put any weight on his back leg. He’s done this before and we took him to the vet…$200 later we got an “I don’t know what’s going on..” It just breaks my heart. He’s not whining, but I still don’t like to see my baby boy in any discomfort!

buuutttt….these came in today!

half are going to work and the other half is going to bunco night. Speaking of….I’m hosting in just 8 days and my house is just NOT ready for that! Gunna have to do a little shopping and hanging this weekend!! (hint, hint)

I had another horrible headache all day again. Yucko! Kale told me last week that he wouldn’t be home for dinner tonight. At first, I was kind of dreading dinner alone, but by the end of the day I was looking forward to just having a couple hours to myself. I cooked shrimp and rice for myself, cuddled with my baby boy and had a nice, long talk with my Jessica. My head is still hurting now and I’m still cranky, but I was so excited for my man to come in the door!

This morning, when we woke up, I wasn’t quite ready to wake up so…

Bosley and I cuddled in front of the fire and took a little (or long) nap. I think it took him a while to finally come over because he woke me up when we came…not that it affected me too much!

He decided he liked it a lot, though!

We finally brought his bed in…but it just wasn’t close enough

Tonight, the church had a special Thanksgiving service locally to give all the campuses (we have 4) a chance to come together and donate food and blankets locally. I had such a great time!! I just feel like there are SO many ways we can do little things that can make a huge impact and I WILL be doing more to serve my God!!!

We got there super early so I thought I’d snap a shot or two.

I got completely jealous when I had to wake up at 6:30 for work today…

Kale will NOT sleep in if I beg him….but when I left this morning at 8:15 this is right where he was. TURD! haha

We went to Chuy’s for dinner tonight but there wasn’t 1 parking spot to be found so we decided to get dessert from McDonald’s and head back there a little later. Dessert BEFORE dinner. That’s about the extent of our rebellion! hehe sure made me a happy camper, though!

Completely different note…Today I was talking to a coworker who is pretty much known as the one who brags about how much she pays for everything she has. She told me flat out today that she WILL marry for money one day. If she wants to spend $700 on a pair of shoes, she’s going THAT DAY to get them. I don’t guess there’s anything wrong with an amazing pair of heels but choosing money over love is just something I absolutely cannot comprehend. I tried to tell her how incredible it is to know that the love of my life, my best friend, loves me with his entire heart and would do anything in the world to keep me from heartache. I was nearly in tears when she told me that she could care less if she even liked the guy!! Ugh, just typing this almost brings tears to my eyes because to me, nothing in the world compares to true love. I pray that one day she realizes what LIFE is about!! Her shoes are not going to be there for her when she’s hurting. Her shoes are not going to laugh with her or keep her company! Anyway, I just pray someone walks into her life and WAKES HER UP!!! I promise if Kale and I lived in a one bedroom apartment for the rest of our life, I would love that man just the same!

Today I got to work all day while Kale had a man-date with the usual guys and the neighbor. Lucky dogs.

Speaking of dog. Ours likes to bark and whine and do circles and bark and whine more until we let him out….or in!

We did get to spend a very sweet morning together today. I LOVE LOVE LOVE just laying in bed in the morning and talking to kale. Although, our talk this morning started off with him reciting his poem he posted yesterday. (He’s VERY proud!) haha! and now that Boz doesn’t sleep with us anymore, I LOVE when we let him out of his crate and he comes to cuddle between us. He gets RIGHT between both of us. Probably because we keep it super cold with 3 fans on at night! We call that spot “The Valley” hehe.

I love my little family with allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll my heart! I’m so blessed!!!
